Module 2

Self-Compassion - Cultivating Kindness

Midlife women are under enormous pressure in their personal and professional lives, often juggling family commitments with increasing career responsibilities. Add the unpredictability of peri-menopause to the mix, and it’s no surprise that women’s well-being statistically reaches an all-time low point at midlife.


Practising self-compassion has the potential to help women manage the transition without feeling overwhelmed. Research suggests that those with higher levels of self-compassion receive an important protective factor that helps them cope; reporting peri-menopause symptoms like hot flushes interfered less with their daily life, and ultimately reduced risk of experiencing depression.

Downshift - Burnout to Balance

For some women, going through peri-menopause can feel stressful in itself. The unpredicatble fluctuation of hormones during peri-menopause alters the way you are able to physically and emotionally respond to stress and can contribute to feelings of depression and anxiety, as well as triggering and/or perpetuating certain symptoms including changed libido, digestive issues and insomnia.


Your peri-menopausal transition has the opportunity to be a positive and freeing life-changing experience; it can be a time to evaluate your life: to look at your career, relationships, and lifestyle to build the best and most supportive life you can. I DON'T HAVE A FORMAL DIAGNOSIS FROM MY GP - can I still join in?


I 100% advocate speaking to your GP about menopause and your experience, the only person who can really confirm peri-menopause is you


Ultimately, you know your body and you know when things are changing - you can self-confirm peri-menopause with an understanding of the symptoms you are experiencing and awareness of your menstrual cycle. Testing hormone levels is often inconclusive as your hormones fluctuate greatly throughout your cycle,


Peri-menopause will get us all at somepoint and the majority of women in their 40's will be experiencing hormonal fluctuations to some degree even if their period hasn't changed.
